The Lucion Technologies-developed application FileCenter is ideally suited for the home or professional user who wants to cut down on paper usage. If you want a paperless office solution, if you want a powerful yet easy to use tool to scan, organize, edit, archive, and easily manage your files, then you’re very well advised to give FileCenter a try.

Your computer must meet the following system requirements for it to be able to run the FileCenter application: 750MHz processor, 500MB of RAM memory, 100MB of free disk space, TWAIN compliant scanner, Windows operating system (any 32 or 64-bit edition from XP up to Windows 8). Any modern PC will easily meet these system requirements.

FileCenter uses a ribbon interface. If you don’t know what that means, here’s a brief and to the point explanation: there’s a ribbon at the top that features numerous buttons on it; there are buttons for accessing all the various bits of functionality FileCenter has to offer.
From the Settings menu, the General submenu, you can change the way the interface looks by picking one of three theme colors: blue, silver, and black.

When you run FileCenter for the first time, you will be presented with a Setup Wizard that will help you quickly set up the main features of this paperless office solution. You will be asked to choose between the FileCenter Standard and Pro version, you will be presented with info on filing cabinets, you will be invited to create and assign folders to a cabinet, you will be invited to assign a cloud folder to a cabinet, set up your scanner, and you will be asked if you want to replace the Windows Save AS and Open dialogs.

There is a lot you can do with the FileCenter application. Here’s a quick look at the functions I found to be most interesting: print files as PDF, scan files and save them as PDF, email files to others, edit PDF and image files, search for files, share files over the network, make PDF and scanned documents searchable, password protect PDFs, easily access other programs, and more. Of course, the functions you get depend on the FileCenter version you go for. A feature comparison is available on the application’s official website.

If you want a powerful paperless office solution, I wholeheartedly advise you to get the Lucion Technologies-developed FileCenter application.

Pros

The system requirements for running FileCenter are quite low. There are two FileCenter editions to choose from: Standard and Professional. FileCenter is a powerful and complete paperless office solution. Choose one of several color schemes for the interface.

Cons

Free to use for a limited amount of time.
